We support your healing journey
Oshun Family Center is a 501(c)3 non profit organization. It was birthed from an experience by the founder Saleemah J. McNeil, she suffered a traumatic birth in 2006 while delivering her son. From suffering severe preeclampsia to and emergency c-section, Saleemah has worked hard to recover from this experience. This experience increased her drive to make a change in the field of maternal and child health and wellness. Saleemah obtained several positions in women’s health over the last decade such as a Birth/Postpartum Doula (no longer practicing), Lactation Consultant and more recently a Marriage and Family Therapist. As a direct service worker she identified a need that was not being met and through support, encouragement and training, twelve years later, Oshun Family Center was born.
Mission & Vision
Oshun Family Center is a registered nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 status. Our mission at Oshun Family Center is to fight the stigma of mental health by providing culturally sensitive therapy services to women, children and families impacted by perinatal mood disorders (PMAD) in minority communities. In addition to focusing on Maternal Mental Health we work to reduce the Black Maternal Mortality rate in Philadelphia.
Our vision is to charge individuals, legislators, law makers, hospitals and the community to move from raising awareness to being actin oriented in regards to the Black Maternal Mortality rate. Help us provide appropriate services for families struggling with traumatic birth experiences and PMADs through psycho-education and therapeutic services catering to their individual needs. Oshun Family Center is working to become a full service facility for families to obtain information regarding maternal and child health and wellness.
